Philosophy
We want you to feel at home with us. Please compare us with other schools:
Quality
We only start courses with a qualified, usually fully-employed teacher. We don’t work with part-timers.
(You won’t normally have a change of teacher!) That is the best guarantee for the quality of your lesson.
Assessment
First of all we assess your fluency in an informal, personal talk (over a cup of coffee or tea): this is the most important criterion for choosing the most suitable group. Improving your ability to speak is basically the main focus of the lessons and, for that reason, the group is limited to a maximum of 6 participants.
Trial lesson
After the assessment talk you have the opportunity to have a look at the group recommended to you, then you can talk afterwards to the teacher to hear what he/she has to say before finally deciding yourself what you want to do. If you don’t find the group suitable, the trial lesson is free. (If you decide to stay this will be counted as your first lesson) It is usually possible to change the group at a later stage, too. The fact that participants decide themselves, having discussed it with the teacher, whether a group is suitable or not means that we have very homogeneous classes.
Flexible duration
With private courses you yourself can determine the number of lessons. You don’t have to commit yourself to a minimum length of time. With group courses you generally commit yourself for a term (usually 3 or 4 months).
You can, of course, continue the course for as many terms as you wish. Courses begin at the start of January, after Easter and the end of September. You can, of course, join an existing group at any time if you have some previous knowledge.
Positive learning atmosphere
It is very important for both management and teachers that there is a positive learning atmosphere in all the lessons. A course can only be a success if one enjoys the lessons. The quality of the course is ensured by
- the competence and experience of the teachers we employ
- small groups (you can decide yourself which group you wish to attend!)
- regular checks on progress by the management (every participant can fill in an assessment slip about the course at the end of a term)
Advice about courses
Because of almost 40 years experience in language teaching we are in a position to advise you professionally in your choice of course and, what is very important for us, we take your special needs into consideration: we are not interested in selling as many lessons as possible. We find out your level (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and aims by means of a test which is free of charge and without any commitment on your part, then we recommend a suitable course.
In short, we want you to be completely happy with your course. And, by the way, most of our new course participants come to us through the recommendation of satisfied customers.
